Two Beauty Must Haves for Moms

I know I don’t usually talk too much about my skin care or make-up routine here on the blog, but I am so excited about some new things that I started using thatΒ I wanted to share with you! They are my new beauty must haves πŸ™‚

Beauty Must-Have #1: Rosehip Oil

A few weeks ago, I saw a blog post from the lovely Sarah Mae about her recent discovery of rosehip oil as a moisturizer. (I’m pretty sure it was Sarah Mae, but I can’t find her post now, so maybe I’m just dreaming it.) Evidently, she used to suffer from breakouts quite often, but after using the rosehip oil, they had disappeared almost completely.

After reading Sarah Mae’s post, I decided to go ahead and try out rosehip oil for myself. I have been dealing with breakouts for years, and despite trying many different products…all the way from expensive department store skin care to drug store moisturizers…I thought I might as well try this too.

I was a bit skeptical at first. Β After all, I’ve always had oily/combination skin, and growing up in the 90’s, I had always heard not to use oil on your face because it would make it even oilier. The first time I used it, however, I felt the oil absorb rather quickly and it made my skin feel soft.

I’ve been using the oil for about a month now, and it has made a huge change in my skin! I use about 3 pumps of the oil after washing my face morning and night, and it has really helped clear things up. What really impressed me was how it helped prevent the inevitable breakouts that I would get the day after a lip and chin wax…I had maybe 2 last time, when I usually have about 15 or so.

The best part about the Rosehip Oilblank is that it is rather inexpensive…around $12 for 1 ounce…and it lasts a long time. I haven’t even used one-quarter of my bottle yet. Woot!

Beauty Must-Have #2: Avon’s ANEW Reversalist Wrinkle Smoother

I received this product for free from Influenster as part of their TLC Vox Box. Normally, I’m not too worried about wrinkles, but I think I should be, since I am getting closer to the big 4-o. I did a little check in the mirror, and sure enough, there are some lines around my eyes that were not there a few years ago.

(Hey, I’m a mom who has a million things to do every day, one of which is not looking in the mirror for wrinkles).

So I decided to try out the ANEW Wrinkle Smoother over my regular make-up, and I found that I really like it. First of all, the packaging is just genius: the outside of the large compact is reflective like a mirror so that it is easy to see where you are applying the smoother (I actually now use it to apply all of my make-up), plus I love how easily the top slides on and off.

The smoother itself is a nice creamy consistency that turns powdery once you apply it to your skin. It creates a nice matte finish, and fills in the little lines to minimize their appearance. I like how it blends in seamlessly with my regular foundation…you can’t tell that I’m even wearing it!

The ANEW is a bit more than the rosehip oil at $30, but again, you only use a tiny bit each time, so the compact should last for quite a long time.

So there are my two beauty must-haves for moms…what are some of your beauty must-haves?

I love using oil on my face to clean and moisturize. I too thought that adding the oil my skin would get worst but it actually got better. Who knew!? I’ll have to try the rosehip oil myself and see how it does for me.

Like you I haven’t really been concerned with wrinkles but also have enjoyed using the ANEW Wrinkle Smoother. It really does work well.

I know…I had the same thought about using oil! I also like that it is natural and doesn’t clog up my pores.

I’m glad that you have enjoyed using the ANEW. It’s always so much fun to try out new beauty products πŸ™‚

I love Aveeno’s BB Cream. I use it almost every day instead of regular foundation. I’ve never heard of Rosehip oil before, but I will keep it in mind to mention to friends and family who may need it. πŸ™‚

I tend to have dry skin, so I’ve never struggled with break outs, but on the flip side, I need to make sure my skin is moisturized or it starts to feel itchy and tight.

Thanks for sharing these beauty must-haves, Erin! It’s always good to get recommendations from those who’ve tried and liked the products.

I haven’t tried rosehip oil either! I have used sweet almond oil, so I will give this a try! I can relate to getting close to 40!! Ahh! Thanks for posting!

Hi Elizabeth! Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit today πŸ™‚ I don’t know where all the years went…it can’t seem possible that 40 is just around the corner!

Thanks for the tips! I still have breakouts at age 39, so I am definitely going to try the rosehip oil. I hadn’t heard of that one before, and I’m always looking for something new to try. πŸ™‚
