Making Your Home a Haven: Light a Candle {Week 1}

Making Your Home a Haven Fall Challenge

This fall, I’m participating again in the Women Living Well Making Your Home a Haven challenge. It’s a wonderful way to focus on making your home warm and welcoming for your family. I took part in this challenge last year for the first time…you can check out my posts here, here , here and here.

I love this weekly challenge in the fall because after the busy-ness of summer and getting back into the old school routine, I want to really focus on my home and make it a place that my husband and children can come to after a long day to become refreshed. I really want them to love being at home 🙂

Week 1: Light a Candle and pray for peace in your home

Light of the Home

For the first weekly challenge, Courtney suggests lighting a candle in the main hub of your home. Each time you happen to walk near the candle, she asks that you say a quick prayer for peace in your home.

This year, my candle is nestled into some pretty pumpkin and cinnamon-scented potpourri. It is sitting in the dining room so that we can all see it while eating our meals together.

But I didn’t stop there! This year, I’ve placed small tea-light candles all around the living room and kitchen area. I’m even using one in the entryway to welcome my family home each day. I think candles makes things look cozier… How do you like all my fall decorations?

I put little touches of fall all over the main living area in my home:

Make sure you head over to visit Women Living Well to check out what Courtney is doing in her home. She is also offering several wonderful giveaways this month, which you will definitely want to enter 🙂

Are you planning to participate in this challenge? How do you like to decorate for fall?

**I hope you’ve enjoyed this Making Your Home a Haven challenge as much as I have. To see other posts in this series, head over to my Making Your Home a Haven page, where you will find my other posts from this year and previous years.

    All your touches of fall look just so cozy. I’m not good at decorating for the seasons at all. Well we do decorate for Christmas but that’s usually all. 🙂

    My kids did make a fall leaf garland which is displayed on our fireplace so we do have a little fall decorations. I should really light one of our candles, we have a bunch and I think we have one called pumpkin spice.

    Oh, I love this idea! I really would like to join in this challenge. The question is could I do this and the 31 days series without making my head explode? I do love the concept though. I decorate the hall closet door with the boys’ art work from school but would like to do a bit more this year. I really love your fall decor especially the flowers in the pumpkin.
