Make it Yourself: Christmas planner

I have the cutest paper craft for you all today!  I found this DIY Christmas Planner idea on Pinterest and just had to make one for myself.  The best part is that this project cost me next to nothing…I used paper scraps from a previous Christmas, and got my notebook very inexpensively during the back-to-school sales!

You want to begin with a simple composition book, some coordinating Christmas scrapbook paper, and some 6X9 clasp envelopes, which are available at any office supply store.

I followed directions from Eighteen25’s blog, but made a few adjustments to fit my preferences.  That’s the great thing about scrapbooking and paper crafting…you can always tweak a project and it usually comes out great, and unique to you.

I didn’t have any full 12X12 pieces of paper, so I used some scraps leftover from a layout I did a few years ago. I just pieced together the paper to cover the front and back of the book, as well as the inside covers.

The girls at Eighteen25 attached a ribbon to their book to use as a closing mechanism, but I felt that might be more frustrating to actually use, so I left that out of my project.

Next, I glued an envelope to the inside covers of the book to keep track of my receipts and coupons.  I used some of Eighteen25’s printable labels on my book, but you can easily create your own titles with adhesive letters or cut out a title on your Cricut.

I also printed out a calendar and glued the pages inside my planner so that I could write out all the parties and events that come up during the month of December.  I’m hoping that this will help me stay more organized this year!

I then glued the tabs (found in the printable) into my book, taking care to line them up with each other.  If you have any paper leftover from your cover, you can create your own tabs.

Finally, I used some leftover coordinating stickers to decorate the front and insides of my book.  You can really be creative here and use whatever you have on hand.

Wasn’t that easy?  I hope this will make the holidays much more organized for me this year…having a pretty little organizer will make me more inclined to actually use it, I think!  🙂

  1. I usually use a folder with 3 prongs and add some sheet protectors. Nothing near as cute as what you have.
I put all my christmas cookie and candy recipe cards in one of the pockets and then a list of who and what I need to purchase in another one. Then another one for coupons and one for receipts. I may have to dress mine up this year a little as the one you made is so cute. Good job, Erin.

LOVE this, Erin! And shared it on my FB page because I’m sure others will love it, too. Such a great idea and I especially like that you can make it your own using things already in the house! xxx
