It’s so much fun to give family and friends homemade gifts on birthdays and holidays. Seeing their eyes light up when you give them something unique and thoughtful makes the effort all worth it. That’s why I love this special and unique Father’s Day gift…a Protein Bar Bouquet.
I had some trouble coming up with an idea of something I could make my for a really unique gift for my husband on Father’s Day this year, so when I saw this pin on Pinterest the other day, I knew I had to try it.
Problem is, my husband loves to workout and is watching his calorie intake. He wouldn’t want the temptation of 10 candy bars sitting around the house. Then, it hit me…why not substitute protein bars for the candy bars instead?
Father’s Day Bouquet Supplies
The kids and I drove to the grocery store this morning for some of my husband’s favorite protein bars. We had already picked up some craft sticks and a floral foam cube at the dollar store over the weekend.
I also used some tissue paper from my gift wrap closet, a small glass vase that I already had on hand, and my trusty glue gun.
How to Make a Father’s Day Bouquet
To start the Father’s Day bouquet, you’ll need to fit a piece of the craft foam inside your vase. I used a serrated knife to trim my craft foam to fit…you’ll want a nice, tight fit.
Since the foam is not the prettiest thing ever, I decided to wrap it in a piece of tissue paper to disguise it, letting the edges of the paper come out over the lip of the vase.
Next, I glued some craft sticks together to make a longer “stem” for my protein bars.
Then I glued the craft sticks to the back of the bars. The glue dries so quickly that you can continue right on assembling the bouquet.
To begin assembling your Father’s Day bouquet, place three of the bars in the middle of the craft foam, pressing the stick/stem down into the foam.
Fill in the rest of the vase with your protein bars, making sure to space them evenly.
Lastly, add small pieces of tissue paper in between the bars to cover up the empty space, and tie a ribbon around the bottom to finish.
This Father’s Day Bouquet is such a fun gift, and one that your husband or father won’t expect! And it’s great to be able to customize the bars to their tastes 🙂
I hope your dads like this! Happy Father’s Day!!
This is such a great idea. Pinterest has some great ideas. I hope your husband enjoys his father’s day gift.
Thanks Shelly!
