Now that summer is almost here and it’s time to bring out the grill to do some cooking outdoors, we need some light, fresh side dishes to go alongside the hamburgers, ribs and steak. This delicious copycat Chick-fil-A coleslaw recipe is just the thing to serve to your friends and family, and takes only minutes to prepare!
When Chick-fil-A discontinued their yummy coleslaw recipe last year, so many of their fans were disappointed not to be able to eat this yummy salad any longer. But fortunately, the company decided to release their recipe to the public so that we can make it at home ourselves!
I’ve made one slight change to this coleslaw recipe, in that I don’t chop up the cabbage into super small pieces, although you definitely could if you wanted that really authentic Chick-fil-A experience. I think it’s easier to just purchase the bagged coleslaw mix at the store, which includes some carrot and red cabbage pieces. And when it’s hot in the kitchen, you want to get out of there as quickly as possible!
This recipe is so easy to make that it’s a great thing to hand over to your kids to make. They really can’t mess it up, but they will really be proud of themselves when they see how they can contribute to the family dinner.
To begin, you’ll want to gather your ingredients together: 2 bags of coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, white vinegar, dry mustard, sugar and kosher salt.
Mix the dressing ingredients in a large bowl…one that is big enough for you to be able to toss all the ingredients together comfortably. It’s a good idea to use a whisk to mix up the dressing so that it is completely lump-free.
Add your coleslaw mix to the bowl and stir with a spatula to combine. You want to make sure to completely cover all the cabbage with the dressing.
Cover your bowl with plastic wrap and place into the refrigerator for at least two hours, or even overnight. And that’s all there is to it! Didn’t I tell you it was easy?

My family and I love to eat this salad along with grilled bratwurst or hamburgers. There’s nothing like a cool and crunchy bite of salad to go with the grill flavor on the meat!
