Connecting with the Moms in Your Life

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Starbucks. I received a promotional item and a gift card to facilitate my review.

Being a mom is extraordinarily hard work. Giving of yourself all day, every day to little souls that need love, nurturing, and discipline…not to mention 3 meals a day, and clean clothes, dishes and rooms, takes its toll on even the strongest of women.

After 8 years of mothering, I’ve come to realize that I can’t just rely on myself to get through the hard days (or, really, even the regular, mundane ones). We moms need community: other women who know what we are going through, who can commiserate and celebrate with us and who can support us when we are in need.

For me, that means time spent with my mom friends. We also happen to be neighbors too, which is a real blessing. After moving so many times while my husband was in the military, it is so nice to be able to put down our roots in a place where we can call our neighbors true friends.

Over the past 4 years, these ladies have watched my kids grow from crawling around our living rooms to riding bikes at full speed up and down the street. We have shared struggles, accomplishments and funny things that our kids do and say, and we have also encouraged each other in our mom journeys.

Oprah Chai Tea at Starbucks

Connecting with my mom friends

Last week, I invited these ladies to our local Starbucks to enjoy some girl time away from the kids, and to try out the new Teavana Oprah Chai Tea latte. It had been about a month since our last get-together and I was really looking forward to chatting over a warm drink.

Usually, I’m a coffee girl, but I do enjoy a nice cup of tea in the afternoon when I can steal a few minutes to sit with a book. After hearing about the new chai tea formula designed by Oprah and the tea experts at Teavana, I decided to give it a try. Before I even took my first sip, the sweet and spicy aroma of the Oprah Chai latte helped settle me. I instantly took a breath and felt myself relax.

As we sat and talked for the hour…about the kids, of course…I sipped on the deliciously creamy and sweet chai tea latte and laughed and giggled with my girlfriends. It felt good to refresh and recharge, to hear some funny stories and (honestly) to sit without hearing, “Hey, Mom!” a thousand times.

Making your own mom connections

This Mother’s Day, why not take a few minutes to make or strengthen your own mom connections? Time spent talking over a steaming cup of tea is just the thing to help you grow closer to that special mom in your life.

You can even take advantage of  the Buy One Get One Free Teavana Oprah Chai Tea beverage special at Starbucks this Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11 to treat your mom or girlfriends to some special tea time.

Oprah Chai Tea at Home

If you aren’t able to make it to your local Starbucks, you can still try the Teavana Oprah Chai Tea at home. As an easy to brew loose leaf tea, it is perfect for quiet times with a book in the early mornings (before the kids are up!).

The best thing about the new Teavana Oprah Chai Tea is that for every beverage or product purchased, Starbucks will make a donation to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation to help with youth education around the world.

Happy Mother’s Day to you!

I’m not a coffee or tea drinker but I do like to have Chai tea occasionally. It’s always a warm yummy treat. Thanks for sharing about this new one.
