If you are looking for a fun and easy Christmas craft for your kids to do this year, then you have to try this one! My kids had a lot of fun making this cute candy cane reindeer craft to give to all of their friends.
They are easy for little hands to put together and don’t require a lot of craft supplies to make…in fact, you probably already have most of these items on hand.
My kids gave these to their school friends as a friendly gift to say Merry Christmas, and they were a big hit. Not only were they kids excited to get TWO candy canes, but the fun little faces on each reindeer made them all smile (especially the cross-eyed ones).
Supplies needed to make the Candy Cane Reindeer Craft
Gather together the following supplies in order to make your Candy Cane Reindeer:
- An even number of Candy Canes
- Brown yarn
- Small red pom poms
- Small googly eyes
- White glue
To begin, place two candy canes back to back with the curved sections facing opposite directions. Hold them tightly and begin to wrap the brown yarn around them.
Getting the yarn started was a bit difficult for my littlest one, so an adult might need to start the yarn for them. Wrap enough yarn around the candy canes until the bottom 4 inches or so are completely covered.
Next, choose two eyes and a nose for your reindeer and glue them on using the white glue. Even the very little ones
can do this, although they might need help squeezing out the glue so that they don’t put too much on.
And that’s all there is to it! We chose the googly eyes with eyelashes to make girl reindeer…aren’t they cute?
I hope your kids have fun making this fun candy cane reindeer craft…and even more fun eating them 🙂
What a cute craft! I love it. 🙂
