It is waffle day today in the 4 Weeks to Fill Your Freezer over at Money Saving Mom 🙂 We are a family of waffle lovers, so I made sure to triple the recipe, just like Crystal suggested, because they won’t last long around here.
My baby boy and I had a lot of fun mixing up the waffle batter! He is finally getting old enough to be able to help me…well, help is a relative term. We did have a lot of flour everywhere, thanks to his enthusiastic stirring 🙂
When Daddy came home from work and saw what we were doing, he said, “Tommy, what are you makin’? A mess?” Offended, Tommy shouted back, “No Dad! We’s makin’ wassles!” We all had a good laugh at that…well, all but Tommy 🙂
Daddy then took the kids outside to play while I started on dinner and cooked the waffles. It was a little hard to juggle dinner and the waffles at the same time. Thank goodness our waffle maker isn’t too hot, because I would have had quite a few burnt waffles since I kept forgetting them.
In the end, I made about 26 waffles for the freezer, minus two that were eaten by the kids because they just couldn’t wait any longer for dinner 🙂 I now have 1 bag of cinnamon rolls and 2 bags of waffles stocked up in the freezer, and with tomorrow’s baked oatmeal, we will have breakfasts covered for a while.
