4 Weeks to a More Organized Home {Simplified}–Day 8

I’m still trying to catch up with the 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home series over at Money Saving Mom!  I was able to get a few more things crossed off the list. but I’m not totally caught up.

We’ve had some rain recently, so I haven’t been able to vacuum out the car (although it needs it!) and I didn’t get around to wiping the door handles or cleaning under the beds, but I’m hoping to this weekend.

Today I got the vacuum out and went over 2 levels of our home.  I also tackled the couch, taking out the cushions and vacuuming up the crumbs.

I also cleaned out a dresser drawer, since that was part of the assignment for today.  We have an old dresser in our playroom that we use to store some of the kids’ books and toys.  It used to be my son’s dresser, but when he graduated from a crib to a bed, we decided to get him a bigger dresser and we decided that the old one would be great for storage in the playroom.

When we moved the dresser, I had taken out all of the clothing, except for a few onesies and some socks.  I also found some painting supplies that I had just stuck in there temporarily when I painted his room, along with some other random junk like an old video cassette with the tape pulled out.  Today I took everything out, placing the tools and nails back out in the garage where they belong, placing the onesies in the donate pile, and throwing the trash out.

There…now there’s room for all my son’s little Match Box cars 🙂

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us tomorrow…hopefully it will be easy so I can catch up on everything I’ve missed!

Thanks Shelly! It feels good to get some of these things done. If it weren’t for this challenge and the accountability from publishing the results on my blog, they probably wouldn’t get done (i.e., the drawer that hasn’t been cleaned out for the better part of a year ;))

Nice work! I bet it feels so good to accomplish all that! I keep meaning to start this challenge, but I seriously have memory issues and forget! I might have to wait until after Thanksgiving…too late you think?

Thanks Danielle! No, you could totally start after Thanksgiving…most of the tasks take 10 minutes or less each day, so you could catch up pretty easily. I just have so much on my plate this week that I’m having a hard time finding 10 minutes 🙂

Well then I’m definitely starting after Thanksgiving…if you say it’s okay! 🙂 I think Crystal’s challenges are always incredibly helpful and I look forward to each task. I hope you get some time to rest especially when the holiday descends next week. xxx
