This past Saturday my gym participated in the world-wide release of BodyPump 80. If you aren’t familiar with BodyPump workouts, new ones are released quarterly, and there is much fanfare involved. Especially for this release, because it marked the 20th anniversary of BodyPump.
Now over the past months, I’ve noticed that each new release is harder than the previous one. Just when you think the workout can’t possibly get any harder, they think of something else which is insanely hard. So I was seriously worried about BodyPump 80.
I finally had the opportunity to complete the entire workout yesterday and…wow! I am definitely feeling it! (Thanks goes out to my son for sparing me the triceps track the first go around because I was called out of class to change a diaper).
Release 80 brought back the dreaded power press….a clean and press with 3 presses in a row…and introduced propulsion lunges towards the end of the track. These are tough moves, however, I think the hardest part of the release was definitely the shoulder track. I could barely get the bar up over my head at the end!
My instructor told us that this release is more of a cardio workout than past releases, and boy, was she ever right! The (what seemed like) hundreds of singles on every track really brought up my heart rate.
All in all, another great workout by Les Mills 🙂
